Beach on Cabanas Island

It takes a little work to arrive but we know that sometimes the best things in life are worth the effort!

The beach is located across the river from the village of Cabanas at the mouth of the land with the river on one side and the sea on the other, giving you a unique blend of fresh and salt water flora, fauna and wildlife, a local ideal for nature lovers.

To get to the beach you have to take a taxi-boat, with many leaving regularly with the jetties in the city, which cost very little for a return trip. The short trip along the estuary is very fun, especially for children and as soon as they reach the other side, they are only a few hundred meters down the walkway to the main beach.

The waters are usually warmer than many parts of the Algarve and the beach is huge like some beach bars on the island for drinks, snacks and ice cream.

How to get there?

To get to the beach on Cabanas Island, you will have to take a taxi-boat or a ferry from Tavira's docks. The boarding place is at Largo da Armação da Ab pumpkin, which is about 7km from the historic center of Tavira. To get there, follow Rua do Óculo and Rua Álvaro de Campos until taking the N125. Exit the N125 at Rua Nossa Senhora da Conceição and then take Rua da Nora Branca and then Rua Vasco da Gama until you reach Largo da Armação da Pumpkin.
